My project started by investigating the impact of creating picturesque cities. I specifically looked into façadism in London which is the practice of preserving only the front of buildings which typically have elegant architectural designs.
I made this outcome with the aim to communicate the hypocrisy of claiming facades as a form of preservation when the removal of the substance and history of any other object seems so absurd. By comparing fashion and architecture in this context I wanted people to question the success of façadism beyond aesthetics in order to have more control over the character of their neighbourhood.
