My project was about parenting so I made a parenting book disguised as a children’s book designed to be read to a child at bed time. Reading is one of the most important actions to do in child development, it teaches and develops the brain in specific ways so a book seemed a relevant medium for my outcome. The story follows a monster and the person that looks after it. The story is simple but hidden in faint text are the persons inner thoughts. The parenting books I read were full of do’s and don’ts, stats and statistics, words assuring the person not to panic. I found it quite uninformative as the ideal environment the books refer to don’t exist. I though a story of a person just trying their best would be a more relatable experience to a person and relieve their anxiety. Throughout the book the person is always in collage and the monster is finger painted because the person is constrained and linear, they can’t spread out as easily. The monster spreads and sploshes, swipes and spindles. The person is always referred to as a person as that is what they are. A person trying their best.
