Taking from Ilse Crawfords ideology that we connect with the objects around us through our senses stemming from our primitive nature, mixed with Olafur Eliasson’s experience making, through storytelling, I explored the primitive space, The Yorkshire Coast – the most eroded coastline in the UK. A significant amount of people were able to connect with these spaces and I tasked myself the job of recreating that feeling through eroding a natural material to reveal its inner natural beauty, just as the Yorkshire coast does. This tactile piece of furniture really resonates with the natural environment and gives us a chance to appreciate what’s around us even with our busy lifestyles. The collection consists of 3, one slightly more weathered than the other so you can see the process: One natural, One ebonised and One ebonised and sandblasted from one direction.

Connecting through haptic forms, which are brought into the home, inspired from the primitive landscape located on the East Yorkshire Coastline, Bempton and Flambrough.
