A street stool designed for the UK that has the freedom to move and lives in parks, markets or communal spaces improving social interactions.

In Britain outdoor public seating is controlled, unsocial and fixed, having a negative effect on the population’s socialisation. While travelling in Vietnam last summer, I experienced its lively street culture with its informal and flexible tiny red and blue plastic stools everywhere, being used as seats, tables, market stands and food stools.

I was inspired to bring a version of this social seating to the UK and have taken visual inspiration from the instantly recognisable British shopping basket and abandoned shopping trollies found on our high streets. Combining the two cultures in the creation of the Every Stool.

The Every Stool is made using welded mesh and steel rod, with a protective weatherproof zinc plating; creating an affordable, lightweight, stackable, high strength and multi-purpose stool. Designed to be owned by every public space and used by everyone for everything.
