“Herbie’s Secret Friends of the River”

Herbie the heron introduces children aged 4-7 to three of the most important river invertebrates which are measured by scientists every month (the RMI score) and sustain the entire river ecosystem!

The aim of this book was to celebrate our local biodiversity, to engage children in animal conservation and promote awareness of how pollution affects the wildlife that lives near rivers. I worked closely with scientists and environmental workers from the Kingston Biodiversity Network and the South East River Trust to find a topic which is under-represented in children’s illustrated books.

20cm x 24cm hardback book covered with a dust jacket and bound together by sewing a double pamphlet.
