PISCIS – Garden Grounds.

The concept of my project is to create a community hub and centre that allows residents of all backgrounds in Chatham, Medway to learn about urban agriculture and small scale farming. The Introduction of  Aquaponics, a hybrid method of urban farming that opens the door to new sustainable methods of agriculture and allows for community development. Hosting workshops on topics such as gardening techniques, soil health, and seasonal cooking can empower individuals to make informed choices about their diet and lifestyle.  Overall, creating a community garden in The Historic Dockyard can serve as a catalyst for promoting healthy lifestyles, building social connections, and addressing challenges that the community face, through grassroots engagement and empowerment.

The ‘farm to table’ experience along with the opportunity for the local community to learn, and grow themselves felt like the right proposal that Chatham needed.
