Allergy*

With up to 41 million people in the UK affected by allergies, it is labelled a ‘modern epidemic’ by the World Health Organisation. ‘Allergy*’ is a publication dedicated to exploring this widespread issue. With particular focus on hay fever and seasonal allergies, it aims to encourage conversation, educate, and share personal experiences. To ensure the project is accessible, data visuals have been simplified and made more relatable throughout.

The project comprises several components, held together by two laser-cut and engraved MDF covers:

  • The Allergy Anthology, featuring commissioned and curated texts centred around the theme of allergies.
  • The Pollen Photography Series, captured using microscopes in the Eadweard Muybridge labs at Kingston University.
  • The Hay Fever Poster-Zine, printed using riso-graph techniques, providing insights into key pollinators in the UK.
  • Additional ephemera
