Strung Together

I’ve always came to enjoy breaking a guitar string. It means you’ve got an excuse to put a whole fresh set on. Slowly winding them to pitch as the tension bends the neck into shape, bringing the whole instrument to life. The Guitar and the string, both useless they’re trying to tear each other apart.

Strung Together is a celebration of this process, and an exploration in translating this into furniture. Designed to be efficient and embody the idea of being greater than the sum of its parts. Strung together relies on its central tensioning wire to provide support and structure where it has none by itself.

Consisting of 2 different sets of identical components, 3 legs and 2 tops, it has an honest construction that highlights the key details in its manufacturing. Its designed to be made out of easy to source materials and create as little waste as possible, 8 tops from 1 ply sheet, as well as flat pack to easier delivery and be simple and intuitive to set up. It proves itself as an individual unit but also as a whole customisable system of creating strong and reliable furniture in a new fun way.
