The Black British Haircare Experience provides a unique approach to cultural practices in comparison to our Pan- African predecessors. These salon spaces provide community, room for collective and self awareness, whilst holding heritage that give us a platform to reclaim our unique stories as Black Britons. They empower us to celebrate our joint identity and challenge stereotypes. It’s where we connect, learn, and grow. THE HAIR SHOP, welcome to a space where our stories matter, and our heritage shines.

For my Final Year Project, I choose to explore how transfering these cultural hubs into virtual lanscapes would affect the prominace of these spaces, not just for people who are black british, but all demographics who show intrest.

Task: Create a intreactive Lanscape that would allow people to explore and learn about the Black British airare experince. Outcome: A Blender Scene, augmented in Unity that is replica of Brixton’s Reliance Arcade. Within the arcade, houses  a VR hair salon full of Nostalgic objects, commonly used Afro Hair products and replica’s of salons alike interiors.
