From Coulport With Love is a 16 minute audio work in the style of a mock radio dramatisation, focusing on the characters of John (Jeff Turner), and Mary (Carolynne) in their home of Ardentinny, Scotland, a mile West of RNAD Coulport, home of the UK’s Trident missile warheads. Exploring the link between systems of defence and comfort, From Coulport With Love is inspired by the close proximity between military bases and domestic homesteads, and the often unintentional encroachment they pose to daily routine. This work solely examines the controversial housing of the UK’s nuclear deterrent, and the fine balance between domesticity and destructive political weaponry using narrative sound and installation in order to provide an intimate listening experience to the audience. The narrative storyline has been created using dialogue, self-recorded foley, and software instruments.
