I have been experimenting with different methods of display. When I began to hang work away from the wall the importance of display dawned on me. And now this is a dominant element of my work. I use found objects to create assemblages. Wooden scraps, second hand clothing and found ironmongery frequently appear in my artistic output. Making this work pushes me to think about the human body’s relation to the installation. How a viewer will move through the space, I feel the use of second-hand clothing provokes this.

My extended research project was really informative for me using found objects. Submitted in January 2024 the study investigated how consumerism has affected the portrayal of gender in Western society for the last 2 centuries. This enriched my understanding of the history of certain objects and clothes. The gendered and classed fabric denim was a focal point for my research.

The images below are taken from the install of my degree show installation Button Fly.

My work uses found and custom objects to create assemblages. All the objects used are connected through the sense of cracked logic that governs my sculptures.

I tailor each show to the space, questioning traditional methods of display and categorisation.
