For my final piece for my FMP, I have made an A1 placemat and a set of 60 risographed concertinas to go alongside it.  My A1 placemat features different collaged black and white images of food alongside linear outlines of food which children may wish to colour in.  The food which features on this placemat is based off research which I collected of food which people may have not liked as a child.  Therefore the idea of this outcome is to encourage children to try new foods and not to be afraid of appearance, taste and texture.  Using indesign, I also chose to write different sentences around the food which directly relates to it and may encourage the child to try it.  The main slogan of the outcome, “it’s okay not to like it”, is meant to play into nostalgia and also remind a child that it is okay not to like a food but it is important to try it.  The smaller risographed concertinas features a similar graphic and concept to what is on the A1 piece however the concept for this is that because of its smaller scale it can be more easily given out and taken away.  Similarly to the A1 mat, the photographs of food featured on this are printed in black and white, therefore it is possible for this also to be coloured in and hopefully help children subconsciously feel more comfortable with food by interacting with the piece and thinking about it.
