Pyeongsang project aims to introduce Korea’s representative outdoor furniture, the “Pyeongsang” (평상) to the garden market in the UK. It seeks to explore the similarities and differences between the two cultures, investigating how the form of furniture evolves as a result. Research is conducted based on the cultural characteristics of each country, examining the interaction between products and users, with a particular focus on the British garden market.

The reinterpreted “Pyeongsang” for British gardens is designed to enrich leisure time in the garden. While smaller than the original, it provides ample space for comfortable lounging in personal yards, enabling families to enjoy chatty tea times together. Accessories attachable to the “Pyeongsang” are specially designed for different leisure times. Among the current offerings are tea tables, windbreakers, and backrests. These items are selected considering the tea time culture and weather in Britain, aiming to retain the British essence and make the “Pyeongsang” feel like a big cosy bench.

Yunseol Yeum, with a keen interest in lifestyle, contemplates ways to enrich life through furniture and products. Through this, the project strives to pursue a stable and happy life amidst diverse cultures, emphasizing the role of objects as tools that assist people in their lives.
